MOTORIST FINED.

I INTOXICATED IN CHARGE OF CAR. (By Telesraph.—Special to " Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. A cinematographer named Charles Edward Barton (38) admitted at the Magistrate's Court to-day, a charge of being drunk last night while in charge of a car. He had a head-on collision with a tram and swerved to the side of the J road and struck another car. Then he ! hit a telegraph pole. I Mr. Perry, who appeared for accused, said that he had been working all day jin a darkroom developing a film. Feelj ing a little seedy, he had three stiff brandies. He said the accident occurred ; through his swerving to avoid a pedes■j trian. ! Mr. J. H. Salmon. S.M., said that feeling unwell was all the more reason why he should not take liquor when he had jto drive a car. Defendant was fined £20, ordered to make good the cost of damage to the tram (£2 12/G) and his license was suspended for" three months.
