INFANT'S BODY FOUND.

DISCOVERY AT NEWMARKET. NO PHYSICAL INJURY. The dead body of a female child was found yesterday afternoon in the back yard of a house at Newmarket. The body was found by a doctor who had been summoned to attend the mother. He at once informed the Newmarket police, who had the body removed to the morgue and the mother to the Auckland Hospital. The mother, who is a single woman of 28 years of age, stated that the child did not breathe and that she put it in the yard. The doctor stated that the head and neck of the child's body were slightly discoloured, but that there were no marks of physical injury. An inquest was this morning opened before the coroner, Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., After the evidence of the doctor and the police constable had ! been taken the inquiry was adjourned sine die. j
