EXHIBITION OF ENGLISH PICTURES.

It was recently announced that Mr.. J. B. Manson, Assistant-Director of the Tate Gallery, London, had induced a number of artists to send pictures to an exhibition at the Sergeant Gallery in Wanganui. It is now stated that amongst the artists -vhose names have been mentioned by Mr. Manson are: Walter Bayes, A.R.W.S., Mrs. Bevan (5. Karlowska), the late R. P. Bevan, Henry Bishop, Arnesby Brown, R.A., George Clausen, R.A., Miss Katherine Clausen, Charles Genge, Orlanda Greenwood, Alfred Hayward, Alexander Jamieson, Augustus 3ohn, R.A., Gerald Kellv. A.R.A., D. Muirhead, A.R.W.S., W. Nicholson, Sir W. Orpen, R.A., G. W. Philpot, R.A., Lucien Pissarro, Tom Robertson, R.A., Prof. W. Rotherstein, P. Wilson Steer, Charles Sims, R.A., Miss Rthel Walker. It is expected that if Vr. Manson's expectations are realised, the collection of pictures will be the most significant, though not the largest, that has ever been exhibited in the Dominion. It is considered certain that some of the pictures will be purchased by the various galleries in New Zealand to enhance the value of t'aeir permanent collections. Mr. Manson hopes that he may be able to borrow one or two works of t'.ie late J. S. Sargent, to be included \n the exhibition.
