METHODIST ORPHANS.
ANNTJAX. DEMONSTRATION
A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION
With flushed, happy faces, glowing with pardonable pride, over seventy children, inmates of the Mount Albert and Epsom orphanages under the control of the Auckland Methodist Children's Home and Orphanages, presented their annual demonstration in the concert chamber, Town Hall, last night. The hall was packed when the curtain rose on prettily befrocked boys and girls, who performed with great credit to themselves and to their teachers. The function took the form of a concert, with, the little ones vicing with the older inmates to impress the large audience with the worth of their efforts. The young performers were drawn from the Wesley, Epworth, and Epsom homes, the latter occupying the first half of the programme in happy choruses, tableaux, and sketches. The voices were nicely suited to the bright numbers, and humour was not lacking. The Wesley girls and boys and the Epworth girls and tiny tots were equally as successful in the latter portion of the programme in recitations, choruses, action songs, tableaux, and two excellent exhibitions of drill. Kate Cunningham and Lionel Montgomery were warmly received for their piano and clarinet
J'iii-tug the interval the Rev. Ready delivered a highly interesting address, *.y_irh covered the early "beginning of the work of the Methodists towards the help and uplift of the children. He made an appeal for the continued support of the homes, and mentioned that 110 children were now being cared for by the institution.
