"THE WISHING WELL.
"The Wishing Well" pantomime, produced by the Auckland Caledonian Society, commenced a four-night season in the Concert Chamber of the Town Hall last evening, and the performers played before a crowded house. Crammed full of hilarious scenes, catchy songs and pretty dances, the pantomime has been produced on an elaborate scale. Gorgeous costuming, delightful settings and beautiful lighting effects are only some of the features that make the pantomime a success. The solo ana the ballet dancing is of an exceptionally high standard. The butterfly ballet in which Loma Kay does the solo work, is a delightful scene. A unique and original ballet is Surprise Packets, in which Sheila Anderson singa "Cecelia." | Grotesque yet attractive, the Skeleton's Prowl ballet was well received. The | Flower of the Valley scene, in which 40 I girls take part was probably the most elaborately staged scene, and met with applause. A novel item was the Twistotwial Ballet, in which Irene Long did the solo work. The most appealing ballet iof the whole performance was "The ; Wooden Soldiers." Little children of ■ three years of age paraded round the stage and their performance was delightful. A deal of credit must be given the ; producer of the pantomime (Mr. Will Burns). . "The Wishing Well" will be i repeated each evening until the final per- ; formance on Saturday night. " !
