A DAYLIGHT ROBBERY.
DWELLINGHOUSE RANSACKED. THIEF STEALS SOVEREIGNS. Those householders who are in the habit of locking their back doors and placing the key in the usual place— under the doormat—would do well to discontinue this practice, for such a custom proved of assistance to a particularly audacious thief yesterday afternoon. Mr. Frank Goodaere'e residence, No. 2, West End Road, Heme Bay, was entered by a thief, or thieves, yesterday afternoon, each room being visited and ran* sacked in the search for valuables. A cashbox was broken open, and several sovereigns stolen. As far as can be ascertained at present, nothing else of value was taken. The dwelling was left securely locked yesterday, but when Mr. Bert Goodacre arrived home at 5.45 last evening he was surprised to find the lights burning brightly, and the back door wide open, the key remaining ia the door. Evidently the daylight prowler had found the key under the mat.
