HAURAKI PLAINS COUNTY.
THE TEAR'S ESTIMATES. PROPOSED RATES. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. The current year's estimates of the Hauraki Plains County Council state the expected expenditure at £8755, of which £1200 is set aside for the construction of the Pipiroa Ferry, £910 for maintenance of plant, £1300 for salaries, the remainder being absorbed by interest and other miscellaneous charges. As provision for the revenue to meet these items, it is expected that charges for the use of the plant will produce £1400, while £628 is anticipated from various sources. The balance will be furnished by amounts due from the Alain Highways Board, and by rates levied throughout the various ridings of the county.
Under the last-mentioned head the rates proposed to be struck in the different ridinga, together with the expenditure therein, are as follow: KopuaraM, rate 2fd, estimated expenditure £2675; Turua, 2d and £1997; Turua Town, ljd and £219; Horahia, 2|d and £3139Kerepeehi, 2fd and £2438; Netherton 2d and £2218; Patetonga, 2|d and £15*9• Ngatea, 2fd and £2841; Pipiroa, 2Jd and £2676; Waitakaruru, 2|d and £2581
