ROAD CYCLING.

EVENTS ON SATURDAY. The handicaps declared for the 17 mile amateur road race will be of considerable interest to cycling fans, in view of the fact that Bray, Casey and Wilson are associated on the scratch mark. The | entries total 32, and this shows an in- | crease on former entries received. I The finish between the three scratch men should be exciting. This trio is a very strong combination, comprising as j it does the cream of Auckland amateurs. I During the season, Casey has collected the* fastest time prize on three occasions, and Bray and Wilson have accounted for Wo each. The sprinting powers of these three competitors after a hard ride are well known by followers of cycling in Auckland, and even farther afield. Assuming the back markers will not make, up the handicap, Pinker (4m 10s), Chambers (sm), and Titchener (6m), shouH show to advantage. Andrews was riding brilliantly a week or so ago, and won a race, but has been unfortunate in recent races. J. Commons (4m 10s) may be looked updn as a likely prizewinner next Saturday, and Platt (3m 455) should also give a ' food account of himself. The finish of the last junior race ' provided .quite a thrill, scarcely half a wheel separating the first two men home, they having passed' the limit rider , only a short distance from home. The young lads are very enthusiastic about the junior events, and it is hoped they j will turn out in full force on Saturday I to justify the cliib holding junior events during the remainder of the season. The professional teams race should create considerable interest, being the first of its kind to be held during recent years. The distance, to be covered is 22 miles, and with each competitor riding only 5£ miles the time should be fast. _^^^_
