R. A. ROSE HOPEFUL
IN SEARCH OF NURMI.
WILL RUN ON DUTCH TRACK.
HIS FUTURE MOVEMENTS.
(By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright)
(Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, July S. Randolph Rose is confident he will equal his Xew Zealand performances despite the cinder track. In his fourth appearance on the cinders he did eleven seconds better than on the first. He covered two miles on the grass track at Brighton in 9min 325, which is two seconds outside the Australasian record. Rose is most anxious to meet Nurmi, but sporting officials in England and the Continent are not aware of the Finn's whereabouts. It is very likely, however, that Nurmi will compete at the Dutch championships on July 18. For that reason, Rose has entered for the 1500 and 5000 metres at the Dutch meeting. Later he expects to go to Oslo and Stockholm, and to leave for America on August 25. He will sail for New Zealand about September S.—(A. and N.Z.)
