■' • ' EARLY MORNING ACCIDENT. (From Our Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVILLE, Friday. In dismissing charges against a motorist and a driver of a gig in a case that was adjourned from Tuesday's sitting, the magistrate (Mr. J. H. Salmon) commented that it appeared as though the parties were on a "fishing expedition" to determine liability before starting civil proceedings. Leonard Love was charged with driving a "voter,oar in a dangerous manner, and with not being in possession of a driver's license. William James Keeley was charged with driving a gig'without having it properly lighted. The. charges were, the result of a col-jlision-with the car and the gig, which were returning from a dance at Springdale early in the morning of April 17. Three occupants of the car maintained that the gig did not have a light, while three occupants of the gig maintained that it did. The magistrate considered that with such a conflict of evidence the charges of negligent driving and. of driving without a light were not proven, and these must be dismissed. On the charge of driving without a license, and to which a plea of guilty had been entered. Love was convicted land fined £2, and costs 17/.
