MILFORD SURF CLUB.
A BOON TO BATHERS, A social function, inaugurated by the secretary of the Milford Surf Club, was held in the Bridgeway Theatre, Milford, on Tuesday evening, Mr. L. J. Minogue presiding. In reviewing the work of the club during the year, the chairman emphasised the boon -which the formation of the club had proved, not only to the visitors, but also to the residents of Milford during the bathing season. He stated that, although the club at the present time had the necessary equipment, a clubhouse was not only essential, but absolutely imperative, for during the past year the members who patrolled the beach in all kinds of weather had no protection whatever when they were off-duty. With the support of the Takapuna Borough Council, assured, he felt certain that, before the 1926 bathing season opened, the. members would be in possession of a clubhouse. Special mention was .made of the good work done by the secretary, Mr. A. V. Coleman. Mr. Morris, chief examining officer (Auckland. Centre), Royal life Saving Society, presented medals and certificates to members of the club who had passed their examination in life saving. Musical items were rendered by Messrs. Bacon, David, Petterson and Coleman.
