GRAFTON BRIDGE.

ROUGH CONDITION. Complaints have been.made by motorists and pedestrians about the condition of Grafton Bridge. The uneven surface makes it uncomfortable for traffic, and the number of potholes cause frequent splashing on to pedestrians, who cannot get away the motors speed by. In regard to the need of putting the surface of the bridge in good condition, the Mayor (Mr. George Baildon) said to-day that he expected the work would be undertaken as soon as the dry weather came. No report upon the matter had yet been prepared for placing before the council, but the idea was to lay a complete, new "surface coat of Neuchatel asphalt Meantime, the bridge must be kept in repair by patching work, and this was being carried out at intervals as required. The reason for delaying the permanent work was that it could be better carried out in the dry weather. /
