NOW SETTLED DOWN.
VESSEL HELD BY ROCKS. AN ENFOSED POSITION. (Wireless from "Star" lb-porter.) S.S. MANAIA. this day. The ship has now settled down, and with the rocks through her bottom there is no chance of her slipping back. The locality where the Manaia came to irrief is exposed on the south and east sides, but the weather to-day is ideal fur salvage work. As the tide recedes the water in the fore part is subsiding, the bow being left almost uncovered. On the port ride the plates can be seen torn away. The anchors put out to hold the ship in position are now unnecessary.
