SPRINT FOR DIAMONDS.
NEW FIELD IN TRANSVAAL. i Received 11.30 a.m.) CAPETOWN, June 11. I'rior to the rush to the new diamond field at Elandsputte, in the Transvaal, mounted police swept 12 square miles of country to clear the ground. Approximately 10.000 diggers assembled seven* and eight deep, forming a starting line which was otic and a-half miles long. They were clacl in a variety of costumes from running togs to Oxford bags. The great rush was accompanied by a hoarse roar from thousands of throats, nnd clouds of dust were raised. The scene w.as witnessed by 10.000 spectators. (Reuter.)
