MOTOR CAR ACCIDENTS.
TELEGRAPH POLE STRUCK. TWO TAXIS COLLIDE. OCCUPANTS ESCAPE U-TIXJURED. Two motor accidents occurred in. the city last evening. In neither case were any of the occupants injured, but two car; More badly damaged. The lirst happened shortly before sewn o'clock when a, motor car containing six men, skidded on Beach Road, and then mounting the footpath, came to rest side-on against a telegraph pole. The ear is the property of Mr. L. Clark, of Mount St. John .Avenue, Epsom, and was being driven in the direction of the city by his son. Mr. Clyde Clark. When approaching An/.ac Avenue the driver applied his brakes with the intention of taking the sharp turn, but the ear skidded on the wet concrete road, and swerving sideways, came to rest in a position at right angles to the footpath. The car was extensively damaged, being completely twisted out of shape. The right hand back wheel was shattered when it struck the kerb. The car was insured. Tho second mishap waa a collision between two taxis in Karangahape Road at midnight. A taxi, the property of Mr. (i. Thornton, of Dominion Road, was stationary beside the footpath near the Ponsonby reservoir when the second ear, belonging to Mr. Ambrose Lewis, crashed into it from the rear. Mr. Thornton's car escaped without much serious damage beyond a broken mudguard. The damage sustained by the other was. however, more extensive, the bonnet being badly crumpled.
