WHANGAREI ASSAULT CASE.

Hempton, described as a travelling salesman, defended by Mr. Bannister.' appeared on charges of assaulting two I men, throwing liquid in their 'faces, disorderly conduct, resisting the oolice. • and drunkenness. On the assault chargp accused was convicted and fined £5 and costs 25/. For resisting he was convicted and fined £3. He was convicted and discharged on other charges.
