TWO LOAN PROPOSALS.
PROGRESS OF BOROUGH. POLLING AT OTAHUHU. The ratepayers of Otahuhu are to-day being- asked, to authorise the raising of two loans, one of £ *600 for the erection of Borough Council Chambers and accommodation for fire-fighting equipment, the second of £ 11,000 for improvements to Mangere Road. The cost of the proposed council chambers and. accommodation for the Otahuhu fire brigade and equipment Iβ estimated at £5500. The fire motor and equipment will cost £1100, while a further £650 will .be spent on sheds for the storage of the borough's plant. The fire bell is to be moved from the Great South Road and re-erected on the council chamber site at a cost of £100. Tbjfi proposed security for repayment of the loan is a special" rate of 9-16 din the £, repayable- in 36* years. It is proposed- to expend the £11,000 loan in concreting, at permanent levels, the Mangere Road from ■ its junction with Walmsley Road to the railway crossing, and in forming two footpaths therein from the. Nixon Monument to the railway crossing. The security iff this case is a special rate of 13-16 din the £, repayable in 36-J years. The polling will take place at the following places until seven o'clock this evening:—Borough Council Chambers, Otahuhu, and Mr. C. R. Waddell's .shop, Mangere Road, Otahuhu.
