REVIEW OP PAST YEAR. REMUERA DISTRICT. At the close of last year the district served by .the Cornwall Park school was cut off from the Remuera district. Religious instruction given to the children out of school hours has been carried out by the Rev. G. C. Cruickshank, vicar of St. Mark's, since the Rev. J. Wilkinson left New Zealand in June last. As a result of representations made early in the year by the committee regarding overcrowding in certain classrooms, the Education Board, in .July last, erected a temporary building '"of itwo classrooms behind the main school, which are still in use. The average roll number was 726, and. the average attendance 676 for the year. Three pupils gained junior national scholarships. The receipts during the year totalled £423 4/2, and the expenditure £357 10/3, leaving a credit balance of £35 13/11. MEADOWBAJNTK DISTRICT. A concert, held in ■ August, raised sufficient funds' for the purchase of a piano and a gramophone. Newton Central.—The top portion of the school grounds has now been levelled. The protest was upheld. The financial report shows a credit balance of £S5 14/1. NEW LYNN DISTRICT. The roll number has increased frmo 532 to- 590. thus causing every classroom to be overcrowded. The treasurer's report shows a credit balance of £37 13/. The balance of a grant of £100 for providing playing grounds was expended round the new infant school.
