BIBLE TRAINING INSTITUTE.

. . ' ANNUAL MEETING. A large gathering assembled at the Tabernacle on Thursday eveuingto celebrate 'the' conclusion of the. fourth year of the lilslory of the New Zealand Bible Training Institute. The chairman, Mr. R. L. Stewart, traced the work of the Institute, stating that while last year 24 young men and women had been trained for the -ministry and the mission field, the students for 1926 reachrd the larsre total of 3-6. . ' The report for the year showed that the lecturers had been as follows: —Key. Joseph Kemp (theology). Mr. €. J. Rolls (Biblical exercises), Mr. J. ' L. lories (Greek-and psychology). . . • The headquarters building in Hopetoun ■Street was' crowded and the young ladies' hostel at Esplanade Road. Mount Eden, had been found too small, and more commodious premises had been secured at 25, View Road, -Mount"Eden. '■ The lady students were under the care of" Miss 'B. Mill, while Miss Grantham had carried out her work as matron of the men's building.

- The site at Kingsland had been sold and the, site at- Mdnntain Road had also been abandoned. The '.board now was looking for a site nearer the city.,and had the sum for building purposes of £8880, of which £IS9o was. in promises. Some time ago a scheme had been set on foot "to secure 1000 subscribers of £1 to £5 annually, but up to the present only 400. subscribers had been enrolled. They had ■ now instituted a system whereby sums if rom 1/ may be given monthly.- The sum of £50p.a..pays the fees and board for. one student:

The expenditure for the'yea'r. ending 31st January, had rbcen £4968, while the-receipts were £4992. .

Mr: .H. T. Grave moved ■ the adoption of the report; which was carried.' Mr. Grave, who retired from :the position of secretary, was succeeded by Mr. J. 0. Sanders, of Dunedln, who was introduced to the gathering by the chairman. Mr. Sanders made an appeal for funds, which was supported by Mt. R. A. Laidlaw.

•, An atidres son, the importance of Bible study and the vitality and veracity of the Book was given by the Rev. G. A. O-aike. of Sydpey, -.who, has been supplying the Tabernacle pulpit. The following directors were elected for the ensuing year:—Mr R L. Stewart (chairman), Revs. Joseph Kemp and A.. S.. Wilson, Messrs. A. F. Ellis, H. R Jenkins, R. A. Laidlaw. Bruce Scott 'H* T. H". Grave and Dr. W: H. Pettit. Dr' Pettlt was-elected hen. physician and Mr' E\ S. Battley auditor. The Ladies' Committee was appointed as follows:—Mrs H 'Wilson (president), Mrs. Bruce. Scott (secretary), Mrs. S. Page (treasurer), Mesdames Barry, Gomrie, Founain. Grave, Jenkins Jones. Kemp, Laidlaw and Stewart. ■- Tfi brief; but telling manner, two students Miss Dobson and Mr. R. G. Bycroft bore .testimony-to-the value of the train in"- of the-Institute, Mr.. :C. J. Rolls (superintendent) concluded with a stirring address and recognised the services of the various honorlecturers and also the work -of the directors.- who- had : themselves, contributed more than £4000 to the new building.
