TRAM DRIVER KILLED.
DERAILMENT AT KOGARAH. SYDNEY, April 2. A sensational tramway accident occurred at the town of Kogarah, seven miles from Sydney. A steam tram left the rails after it had descended a steep hill. The engine capsized and the driver, Mr. Leslie Slater, was pinned beneath the wreckage and killed instantly. Three carriages left the rails. One of them travelled for a considerable distance at a terrific speed and finally crashed into a telegraph pole. The conductor was badly injured. Only three. passengers were on the tram. They all escaped with slight injuries.— (A. and N.Z.)
