YEAR'S BUILDING RECORD.
BIRKENHEAD AND NOETHCOTE. During the financial year just closed, 100 building permits, adding a capital value of £33,159, were issued ai Birkenhead. Of these, 47 were for new lwollings valued at £26,072, four for business premises aggregating £4500, tbe balance of 49, with a value of £2557, being for alterations, additions, garages, . sheds, etc. For the corresponding periods since 1923, the figures for successive year* were:— 1023 52 permits, valued at £20.156 1P24.... 87 ~ 31712 1925.... 12-t „ „ 35.040 1926.... ICO „ ~ 33,159 Building in the borough is likely to be more active than ever during the forthcoming year, and, the erection of further two-storeyed concrete business blocks is mooted. The Northcote Borough Council issued 110 building permits for the past year, the >ie.v value being £30,090. This included 35' new houses, the' balance Ueing for additions and alteration •> to existing premises, largely consequent on the installation of the drainag3 system.
