HALF-YEARLY ASSEMBLY. Tiio ninth half-yearly asscn.'jly of the Auckland Christian Convention commenced yesterday at Scots Th.> meetings are undenominational and will continue until Monday next. At yesterday's gathering the leading speakers were Messrs. W. ('. Irvine, of India. T. Spottiswoode. W. R. Wilson, R. A. Laidlaw, and A. Storrie. ■ A special address on "Modernism, as Affecting the Christian Mission To-day."' will be delivered to-morrow by Mr. Irvine, who is well versed in most of the religious movements of India.
