BUTTER FROM NEW ZEALAND.
EXPORTED TO MELBOURNE. When the Paterson scheme was adopted In Australia with a view to "flxin?" prices, it was suerfrested that New Zealand nuter -nig-nt be sent across the Tasman if the attempt to maintain domestic prices above world parity was persisted in. Evidently New Zealand dairy interests are watching- very closely any • opportunities that may present themselves for business wlth the "other side." The Sydney "Sun" of the 12th inst., says:— "Despite the canvassing: of certain interests Tor a rise, the price of butter is not likely to be increased on Monday. A small shipment or New Zealand butter is due In Melbourne. It is stated that this order was placed through a misunderstanding-, which arose througrh difficulty being: experienced In obtaining: quotations in New South Wales and (Queensland. Arrangements have now been made to -secure supplies rrom Queensland, at a con-lderable reducton on tne present spot price or 186/8 a cwt." THIS LONDON MARKETS. LONDON, March 18. FOREIGN EXCHANGES.
