DETERIORATED LANDS.

COMMITTEES ON TOUR, (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") STRATFORD, this day. Members of the recently-appointed three Deteriorated Lands Committees are at present making a tour of inspection, accompanied by the Under-Secre-tary of Lands. They are going through Whangamamoana and Ohura districts to Taumarunui, where they will remain a few days. The present tour is merely a preliminary investigation, members intending to go over deteriorated country with a. view of finding a basis of uniformity upon which they can work when acrtive operations are commenced. Each committee will then attend to its own particular district, going into each case individually anel making recommendations to the various land boards regarding the advisability of revaluation, reI mission of rent. etc.
