INQUIRY WEARING CONCLUSION

The inquiry Into the location of the proposed bridge across the Wairau stream, which is being held before Mr. W. S. Short. 1.5.0., appointed as Commissioner by the Governor-General, was continued to-day, and is expected to conclude this evening. The question before the Commission is -whether the proposed bridge should be located at the Craig Road site, which is favoured by the Waitemata Council (Mr. McVeagh ), or at the Inga Road site, higher up the Stream, which is the scheme of the Takapuna Borough . Council (Mr. Lowrie). *
The sitting began on Tuesday morning, and lengthy has been i called en behalf "of the rival schemes. !At to-day's sitting the following witnesses gave evidence supporting the borough council scheme:—Alexander Harris, M.P., resident of Takapuna; Captain Thomas Braidwood, master mariner, Auckland; George Jackson, resident. Castor Bay; S. C. Hinton, resident, Castor Bay; A. TV. Clark, land- ' owner, Castor Bay: Charles Petterson, builder, Takapuna; A. Warbrick, builder, i Takapuna; John Strickett, landowner, lon northern side of Wairau creek; i Charles Wheeler, traffic inspector, Takapuna; Mr. Penning, a resident of Waitemata County; Thomas G. Webster, j jeweller, Takapuna.
Captain D. H. Cambridge, scow masI ter, was called as an additional witness Iby Mr. McVeagh, to give evidence in favour of the Craig Road site.
