At the conference of Xew Zealand Boxing Association delegates to-day. most discussion centred round proposed amendments to the rules by the Council providing that the presentlimit of £2DO for professional contests should bp' varied in order that a greater purse might be offered in the event of any centre being able to get a world-famed boxer to appear in a mutch. The proposal was. opposed by Mr. K. A. Craig (Auckland) as beinp likely to cause friction by favouring the larjre associations, and he was supported by Mr. R. W. McVilly (Wellington), with the result that the provision for allowing a larger purse than £200 was deleted. The . chairman, Air. F. J. Campbell (Otago). said that the demands by the contestants for purses were becoming a nuisance to associations, and his association suggested that a scale of expenses according to distance travelled should bo adopted, tho expenses allowed to come off the purse. He moved in that direction. Mr. Hereock seconded the motion nnrl remarked that the Xanier Association I had experienced some difficulty in connection with expense*. Mr. Talbot stijjsrested that contestants travelling over 200 miles should receive lft per cent, those travelling !-"ss than 21)0 miles ."> per cent, and the local man no expenses. The percentage should be a maximum. This was accepter! by the chairman j and \vn~ adopted. Mr. Talbot moved that the articles I should lie amended to provide thai , .il ! nrize money should be divided on n 00-tO basis. This was seconded by Mr. T. YV, D. Hall (Taumamnui) and carried. M.r. Mellish moved and Mr. McVillv J seconded that the council should not i have power to vary the proportions provided* for in the articles. 'Hie motion I was carried.
