CYCLE AND CAR COLLIDE.
I CRASH AT MOUNT ALBERT. A YOUNG MAX INJURED. Unable to avoid what he saw to be a coming collision, a young motor cyclist named Michael Coleman this afternoon crashed into the side of a motor car at Mount Albert and sustained injuries which necessitated his removal to the hospital. Coleman was coining down hill from Mount Albert when he saw a car approaching from the direction of the city turning at right angles to enter Asquith Avenue. Seeing the danger of a collision, he applied the brakes, whilst at the same time the driver of the motor swung sharply to round the corner in an effort to avoid him. The motor cycle skidded for a distance of ivarlv forty feet and then struck the car a glancing blow, denting the rear mudguard, footplate and wall, breaking the door handle and smashing the left-side windscreen. The rider of the cycle was thrown against the windscreen, 'but the impact was broken by his first having struck the side of the ear. He fell from his cycle and was at once taken into a residence nearby, where first-aid was rendered by Dr. Gladys Montgomery. Beyond a somewhat badly-cut' forehead and some abrasions, Coleman, who resides at 25, Clarence Street, Mount Eden, , was thought not to be badly injured, but it was deemed advisable to Ecnd him to the Auckland Hospital, where he was later admitted for observation. The front wheel of the motor cycle was 'buckled by the impact, but it was little damaged otherwise.
