HUNGARIAN SCANDAL. t FRENCH AUTHORITIES PERSIST ("By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.! BUDAPEST. January 31. The Social Democrats have introduced a motion in the Legislative Assembly demanding the immediate resignation ot the Cabinet and the supplanting of Admiral Horthy's .Regency by a State Council.
The motion was followed by very stormy seines, in which the Social Democrats declared that the Bethlen party 'w involved in the forged banknotes scandal.
The forgeries continue to be the subject of inquiry by a Parliamentary Committee, and a polite inquiry i≤ being demanded.
Tlw* French authorities are also pursuing the matter. The French police commissioner. M. Fotiloet. is reported to have urged the re-examination of Prince Windischgraetz and of Nadosy. ex-chief of police, to clear up alleged discrepancies in their evidence.
M. Foulcet has also declared that it must be ascertained where the paper which was used to manufacture the forged notes was procured, and where the machinery used" in the process was hidden.
The French authorities an , of the opinion that it will yet be found in Hungary. The Premier, Count Bethlen. in a speech in regard to the affair, said that it the Cabinet found it had made mistakes the members would resign. He was determined to clear up the affair. The Government had nothing to hide. Attacks from abroad had originated from some despicable Hungarians who knew their only chance of success waa to plunge the honest leaders of the country into the mire.— (A. and N.Z.— Reuter.) *
