NEW ZEALANDERS ABROAD.

PERSONAL NOTES FROM LONDON. (From Out Own Correspondent.) LONDON, December 24. Miss Reid and Misa Edith Reid, daughters of Mr. W. E. C. Reid, have returned to London for Christmas. They had a very jolly time on the Continent, as they formed a part of a party of New Zealanders who went to do the winter sports—Mrs. Robert Mills and Miss Mills and Miss Farquhar and Miss Eva.

Mr. and Mrs: John Buchanan, of Auckland, who arrived in this country in July, having had a delightful trip through Canada and the United States, en route for England, are now staying at Brixton Hill. On arrival in England they spent a month in London, and then went touring by motor to Scotland and the English Lakes, visiting friends in Yorkshire, Bedford, and Northampton. Since then they have been motoring in the South of England, staying with relations in Bournemouth, and only camo to London in time to spend Christmas week in the capital. In the New Year they are going to revisit some of their friends in the Midlands, and do some more motoring in the Old Country. They are not yet quite certain when they will return to New Zealand.

Mr. Lionel B. McGoverne, of Dunedin, who is now with the R.A.F., is still stationed in Egypt, where he is at No. 4, F.T.S., Abou Sueir. The Misses Ormond, of Hawke's Bay, spent their Christinas with friends in Gloucester.

Mr. Porritt, who represented New Zealand at the Olympic Games, has gone to Italy for the vacation. Mrs. M. Godby (nee Rhodes) and Miss G. and Mr. It. Godby, of Christchurch, have left for a visit to Capetown. Miss A. W. Whitelaw, M.A., of Wycombe Abbey, has left England for a tour of South Africa. She expects to be away for about five months. Mr. Charles C. Reade has been in England on a holiday. He is Government town planner, Federated Malay States, and is stationed at Kuala Lampur. Dr. Averill, the Archbishop of New Zealand, has arrived in England from Sydney. Lady Chaytor has left London for the Canary Islands, and will be away for six weeks.

The Countess of Hardwicke and Lady Elizabeth Yorke will leave Southampton to-morrow for Capetown. They will be away for three months. Mr. H. F. S. Sweetman, of Auckland, is staying just now with a cousin at Whipp's Cross, Leyton. He came over via Panama, Norfolk, Boston and Liverpool, to London, the last part of which journey was extremely rough. Mr. Sweetman has come over to make a stay of some length, in order to study Labour conditions and politics. He will take the opportunity to see France, Italy, and possibly Germany. New Zealanders at the winter sports in one party include Mr. E. Rhodes, of Christchurch, Mrs. and Miss Bloomfield, Mr. B. O'Rorke, and Miss O'Rorke, of Auckland, Mr. Colin Deans, of Christchurch, and Mr. Charles Macfarlane, of Amuri.

The following death notice occurs in the "Times," and New Zealand papers are asked to copy it: "On Christmas Day (suddenly), at Sunnyside, St. James Road, Sutton, Florence, daughter of the late Charles James Churcher, of Walworth, aged 67."
