TOURIST TRAFFIC.
ANOTHER GOOD MONTH. OVERSEAS VISITORS INCREASE. Tourist traffic as far as the Auckland office is concerned, continues to be brisk. Speaking to a "Star" reporter this morning the manager of the Government Tourist Office said it had been a strenuous month, and several of the staff I had had to burn the midnight oil to cope | with it. The mimber travelling to Dunedin had slackened off a little, but large numbers of trippers continued to go to Rotorua, Waitomo Caves and Wairakei. The last mentioned place was becoming increasingly popular -with overseas visitors of all descriptions. The Wanganui River trip and those to Mount Cook and Queenstown were still popular, but Milford Track appeared to' be attracting more people this Tear than ever. In regard to overseas visitors generally, a noticeable fact ■was the number of Australians who were visiting New Zealand. Sydney and its vicinity apparently supplied the greater number of , these. Several parties had been sent up North to the deep sea fishing grounds, ' and arrangements were being made for several more to go. Laet month 2068 overseas people 1 arrived in the Dominion, whilst 1233 went abroad. Last January 1370 people arrived in New Zealand, and 820 took their departure.
