PORT CUSTOMS RETURNS.
RECEIPTS OF £209,988. INCREASE OF £10,000. January has been a good month for Customs revenue at Auckland. Compared with January last year, the receipts have showed an increase of £10,974, and the beer duty has yielded £278 more than the corresponding period a year ago. The figures for January this year and also for January, 1925, are as follow:— ]02R 1 f>2.5 Customs revenue £200.nss iitW.ol4 Beer duty lo,:i>l 10,073 The best day's takings this month were on January 4 and 23, when the receipts were £17.000 and £16,000. respectively. A comparison with December shows that the January Customs increased by £SSOS over the previous month, but the beer duty fell by £4390^
