ROW OF SKELETONS.
DISCOVERY NEAR .READING. Several Ihuman skeletons -were dug up recently by navvies engaged in widening the main London to Bath Road at Sonning-on-Thames, near ißeadlng. They -were found at the bottom of a trench Bft below the eurface, and were lying In a row. The skeletons were remarkably well preserved, and In the Jawbone of one was a complete set of teeth In excellent condition. At present it is assumed that the remains are those of criminals. The museum authorities are making investigations. While cutting a drain In connection with the extension of the Roman Catholic church in 'Grove 'Road, Eastbourne, a workman named Potter found a skull at a depth of four feet. Believing It to be the remains of an animal, he threw It aside, but it was noticed by the priest, Mgr. Cocks, who informed the police, and further search revealed a number of bones within a radius of fhreu feet. The hands, feet and backbone are missing. (From the size of the thigh bone it appears that the remains are those of a person about six feet in height. The ekull is of normal width, 'but it very long. In part of a jaw are six well-preserved teeth.
