PRESENTATIONS.
A pleasant function took place at the works of Messrs. Wright Stevenson, Ltd., Otahuhu. yesterday afternoon, when the well-known League footballer, Mr. M. Kirkland, was presented, on the eve of his marriage, with a handsome set of dinner ware and an afternoon tea, service. Mr. W. Taylor made the presentation, and eulogised the many qualities which made Mr. Kirkland so well esteemed. He was accorded the best wishes of the staff. Mr. Kirkland suitably responded. A pleasing gathering took place at the Auckland City Corporation Tramways Offices yesterday, when the staff assembled for .the purpose of making a presentation to Mr. W. D. Lysaght, the claims officer of the department, on the eve of his marriage. The manager, Mr. A. E. Ford, after making a few eulogistic and appropriate remarks, handed to Mr. Lysaght, on behalf of the staff, a gold wristlet watch suitably inscribed, a gold fountain pen and eversharp pencil, and a cut glass vase for Mrs. Lysaght. Mr. S. M. Farrelly, stores superintendent, referred in glowing terms to the good qualities possessed by Mr. Lysaght, and after three hearty cheers were given for Mr. and Mrs. Lysaght, Mr. Lysaght suitably responded.
