DUNEDINITE SECURES HONOUR.

DUNEDIN, this day. A cable has been received from the secretary of the Institution _ of Mechanical Engineers,- Dondon, advising that John Davidson and Eoin R, harden have been successful in the examination they sat for in October last. This was the first examination held "in New Zealand by the institution. Garden sat for the whole and Davidson for part of the examination for associate membership. Eight students in Auckland eat for studentship examination. Garden is, therefore, the first to pass ithe-com-plete examination for associate membership in New Zealand. Both Dunedin students received their technical trainin« in the King Edward Technical College. The institution comprises the most prominent mechanical engineers in practice in Great Britain.
