BADEN POWELL AND THE PRINCE.

At the scouts jamboree, Commissioner •Meek read the following message from chief scout (Sir Robert -.BadenPowell) :—"I am delighted to hear thaS the scouts of New Zealand are to hold a jamboree. From what I know of their scouts, it is bound to he a good one. I expect _ will prove a big success, because _om what I know also of New Zealanders, they always haclc a good thing—whether on the racecourse or elsewhere. I only wish I could be present to enjoy it all myself, and personally to Wish-to every scout and scouter tho best of luck and good camping." A letter was also read from the Prince of Wales, as Chief Scout of Wales, and it provoked great enthusiasm among the boys. It ran:—''l am glad to hear of the great scout jamboree which is to be held in Dunedin in January in connection with the international exhibition. I still retain the happiest memories of many scouts whom T met during my visits to New Zealand and send my best wishes for the success of the forthcoming i gathering,"
