CONVICTS AT SING SING. 'WAY DOWN SOUTH. NEW YORK, December 1. To bo happy in prison it is necessary to select judiciously the locality in which to commit the crime. Inmateq of Sing Sing prison. 1350 of thorn, celebrated Thanksgiving joyously with a chicken dinner. After dinner they were entertained with a vaudeville and ciuema performance. Even the lo men and one woman in the death house awaiting execution listened to a radio concert. But in Xorth Carolina the gaols are run on different lines. Cranford, the convict superintendent of Stanley County, is accused of beat ing negro prisoners to death. White convicts pave evidence of having seen Cranford whip two negroes one afternoon, both of whom died the same night. A doctor said that the negroes had died from over-heat.
