NEW RAILWAY STATION.
'To the Editor.) Sir. —T notice by Wednesday's "Star" that the Chamber of Commerce consider (lie proposed new railway station, in Bench Road to be too great a distance from Queen Street. If we take into consideration the Xorth and South Trunk Lines, Beach Road is the only place for it. Otherwise I would suggest it to be placed on the waterfront near the King's wharf. My alternative is for the City Council to make an exchange with the Government, the latter taking over Breakwater Road and the Council constructing a new road more in line with the King's wharf and Anzac Avenue, the new station to be erected on the corner of Beach Road and the new road, which would be known as Britomart Place. This would do away, with the present awkward and dangerous junction of five streets arid a saving of about £300 a year now paid for a point duty policeman. This would shorten the distance to Queen Street by one half. I am, etc., H. J. GEXTLES.
