SEVERE EARTHQUAKE.
PRECEDED BY" A RUMBLE. BLENHEIM BADLY SHAKEN. NO MATERIAL DAMAGE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) BLENHEIM, this day. At two o'clock this morning four severe shocks of earthquake Avere experienced here, following each other so rapidly that they appeared to be almost one continuous shake, lasting tbe best part of a minute. The shakes were preceded by a rumble, and were the severest felt bore for many years. At a quarter past two. a short jolt was felt, and between four and live o'clock another short jolt.
With the exception of a few chimneys beinnr damaged and some bottles knocked down in several shops, no material damage is reported.
