MASKED MEN'S ATTITUDE.
NEWSPAPER OFFICE INCIDENT. SYDNEY, November 12. In connection with the finding of plugs of gelignite on the premises of ths Labour daily newspaper, significance is attached to tho fact that no rletonatora were found on the premises. It is pointed out that nobody with any knowledge of explosives would be foolish enough to try to explode gelignite without detonators. In the absence of caps it can be burned without danger. The report of. Sergeant Sheehy, who was in charge of the night police patrol, states that at the time of the occurrence a.number of employees were in the building. Most of them saw the affair, but no one went to the assistance of the editor, although Mr. Rodgers. the night sub-editor, states that lie attempted to do so. but was prevented by another employee. . The sergeant said it did riot anpear to him that there was any intention to damage the premises or to injure anyone. Tt was quite evident that the fuse w liad been tampered with before it was connected with the geliijnite. thus making it ineffective.—(A. and N.Z. Cablie.)
