» , DISTRICT FORGING AHEAD. MORE FACILITIES FOR RESIDENTS. Edendale is developing into a most important part of the borough of Mt. Albert. Business and private residences have made rapid strides and with the advent of an efficient electric light service, as promised by the council, the district will, it is anticipated, eclipse other places in the borough. t Lack of drainage has been a hindrance to this progressive locality, 'but residents are looking forward to a definite plan to have the Edendale area thoroughly drained in the very near future. _ , The younger portion of the rapidlygrowing population are being well catered for, Eden Park being within easy reach. Up-to-date tennis courts have been formed, and within the next two weeks tennis enthusiasts will bE able to indulge in night play, arrangements having been made for this pur pose. For yefl.rs Edendale has been without a public hall of any description. Ir this connection an interesting item was considpred at last night's meeting & the Mount Albert Borough Council when plans for a new picture theatn to seat 700 people, were submitted fo: approval. The structure will be a handsome one with shop frontasPß.ll is proposed to construct the bu'ldiru in concrete and brick, and it will b> prentod in Kew North Road, betweei Gladstone Road and Woodward Road.
