A further meeting of the local die- ' putes committee was held this morninoat Lyttelton to consider the waterside vrorkers , demand of 3/3 an hour, plus 15/ bonus, for discharging 700 tons of phosphate now on board the Wong-anella ; from Nauru. The employers, it was stated, would not accede to the demands of the men. but were prepared to pay the award rate of 2/71 an hour. Xo trouble has be«n experienced at other ports in obtaining labour to York this class of cargo. A deadlock was arrived at during the ! meeting and the matter will be again": referred to the National Distmtes Com- i mittee.
