OTAHUHU REUNION.

There was a very large gathering in the Otahuhu Public Hall on Friday evening, when the annual social was held in connection with the reunion of Otahuhu residents. The Mayor (Mr. R. B. Todd) in his address, referred to the rapid progress of the borough, and contrasted tho conveniences now enjoyed with those of the pioneer days. He was pleased to see present some of those who remembered Otahuhu as a soldier settlement, and welcomed their meeting with more recent arrivals, upon whom the onus of administrative responsibility now rested. He coupled with these remarks, the services rendered to the borough by the Deputy-Mayor (Mr. T-. Clements), and the social part taken by the headmaster of the district school, Mr. A. Murdoch. The function was a pronounced success, the programme being arranged to comply with old-time customs. The social took the form of dancing, interspersed with musical Itemß. The grand march was led by Mr. Tom Brown, of hunting fame, and his daughter, and amongst those participating was Mr. James Atkinson, a former mayor, who, with Mr. Brown, has passed his four score years, As a memento of the occasion a flash-light photograph was taken. Songs, which were all of the old popular type, were contributed by the Misses McLeod, Norrie, Lamb and Maddigan. The dance music was supplied by the Orphans' Club's orchestra, whilst Jlrs. Gillies acted as accompanist. Mr. .1. Gillies was an efficient master of ceremonies, being ably assisted by Messrs. Ilickson, McConochie, Murdoch and McGehan.
