BIRTHS GOING DOWN.
MARRIAGES ABOUT THE SAME. MARKED DROP IN DEATHS. Although Auckland is growing at such, a great rate the increase is not what statisticians call a natural one. This month of October, which closes to-day there is a drop of 14 births compared with the same month last year, marriages are exactly the same in number, but deaths show les s by 45. Taking the figures for the first ten months of last year and this year we find that 1925 only gives 27 more births than in 1924. Marriages are only five more in number in favour of the current year. Deaths are less by 43. Marriages before the registrar continue to maintain their popularity, the number for the ten months of the present year being 480 compared with 450 in 1924. These totals are about a quarter of the total marriages registered. The figures for the month and tenmonth period are: — BIRTHS. For October.
