TOO LAZY TO WORK.
A VAGRANT'S OUTBURST. CREATES SCENE IN COURT. SENTENCED TO THREE MONTHS. "What I want to know is when 19 a man going to get a fair go. These detectives are persecuting mc." So yelled Roger James Coyle (29), as soon as he was placed in the dock at the Police Court this morning on a charge of being an idle a;id disorderly person irit:i insufficient lawful means of support. "Just you keep quiet," advised Mr. Hunt, the magistrate. "Well, I want a fair <ro anyway," cried Coyle. ' "Oh, you will get that all right, but keep quiet," said the magistrate. Detective O'Sullivan went into the witness box and was about to tell the magistrate about Coyle, when the prisoner shouted out "You're a liar, O'Sullivan." "Take him away," ordered Mr. Hunt, "I will deal with him when he cairns down." Half an hour later Coyle was brought ' back and the detective again stepped into the box. He said that Coyle was too lazy to work. Yesterday he saw him in the company of a drunken man. | Coyle admitted that he took a bottle of liquor out of the drunken man's pocket. Coyle: That's the first time you have toid the truth. i Detective O'Sullivan added that Coyle j had been hanging about town lately, i Coyle: Oh tell the truth and shame the devil. Mr. Hunt: Keep quiet. Coyle: I won't. I'm not a flock of sheep, I don't want to be drove. However when Coyle heard the magis- j trate prescribe three months for him up in Mount Eden he had nothing to say. !
