LOANS IN LONDON.

ALL ISSUES DEFERRED. ACTION BY TREASURY. LONDON, October 14. It is learned that the embargo on the flotation of foreign loans in London, which was imposed by the British Government, has been suddenly extended to Dominion loans. A fortnight ago negotiations for the flotation of West Australian, South Australian and Tasmanian loans had so progressed that both the interest and the price had been agreed upon, the underwriting had been arranged, thd prospectuses had been drafted, and the dates of the respective flotations had been fixed. The New South Wales loan had been deferred until the requirements of the other States had been satisfiedIt now transpires that all Dominion loans whatsoever have been definitely deferred under the British Treasury's pressure. The embargo applies only to new money- Conversion loans are permissible, and the Australian States are taking advantage of this.—A. nnd N.Z.
