In the report to be presented at the annual meeting to-night, the committee congratulates the club on increased membership and a sound financial condition. The club's plant was in first-class condition, and tbe boats had been overhauled in readiness for the coming season. An important addition to tbe plant was made at the beginning of the season by the purchase of three new practice fours from Messrs. J. Edwards and Sons, of Melbourne. The committee had just lodged with Messrs. George Towns and Co., of Sydney, an order for a new set of racing oars and sculls. The club was represented at all regattas held under the auspices of the local association, and the successes constituted a strong tribute to the various roaches, and also to the keenness of the individual members of the crews. It was perhaps not too much to assert that had not several regattas been abandoned on account of the epidemic, the club would have had almost a record season. At the New Zealand championships W. A. Stevenson and D. Smith won the New Zealand Champion Double Sculls, and W. A. Stevenson gained second place in the Champion Singles. Although the club's senior four failed to gain a place in the Champion Fours, the crew are expected to give a good account of themselves during the coming season. It was a matter of considerable pride to the club to place on record the fact that one of the Waitemata Boating Club's members. T. Johnson, rowed bow in the New Zealand eight. The club, during the season, lodged a challenge for the Somerville Shield, which carries with it the eight-oared championship of New Zealand. The race was held at the conclusion of the Wanganui Regatta, and in a splendid race w-ith the Wanganui Rowing Club, the holders of the shield", the club's crew, made up of the senior fours and the light maiden fours, succeeded in carrying off the trophy. The Smith Shield was also won hy a Waitemata crew. The winning crew were : V. Smith (stroke. D. Smith (3). N. Donbleday (2), W. A. Stevenson (bow). Trial fours were rowed on each Saturday afternoon where possible, and in nearly all cases resulted in close contests. The new boats added much to the standard of rowing produced, and th«- form . _nwn "was uniformly good. The average ..number of crews which competed was about four.
