Standing on i the summit of thi~ motmturn. a peak of I the Cote dOr range of the JLangres ' Plateau, some sis miles -west of Dijon, at ;an elevation of 1900 feet, above sea level. j this light is said to be of 1.000,000.000 ! candle power, but as the French unit of I lighting eSciency is only nine-tenths of i the Bngßsfc standard, it is probaiily not | more than 900.000.090 candle power. i That, however, is afteen _____ more | powerful than the biggest marine ligntr basse —=&at of 60,000.000 candle power at Navesink. New owing to its "Teat elevation its range oi visibility is enormously greater than any other lighthouse.
