a GIVEN ANOTHER CHANGE. PROBATION FOR FALSE PRETENCES "This man has had a lot of hard luck and illness in his family. He has seen better days, and has never been in trouble before," said Chief Detective Cummings about a man of 45 years, who pleaded guilty at the Police Court this morning to a charge of having obtained £15 by means of a valueless cheque. The accused, whose name was ordered to be suppressed by the magistrate, Sir. J. W. Poynton. was admitted to probation for two years and ordered to make restitution of the money which he had obtained by false pretences.
