N.S.W. RAILWAYS.
HEAVY TRAMWAY LOSSES. (Eeceived 10.30 a.m.( SYDNEY, this day. For the year ended June 30 last the operations of the New South Wales railways .and tramways showed a deficit oi £69,143. The railways made a surplus of £32,037, but the deficiency on tramways amounted to £102,079. The Commissioners report that the earnings were adversely affected to the extent of £353,000 on the railways and £15,000 on tramways was due to the reductions in freight rates during the year and increases in wages and salaries; also by previous reductions in rates and fares.—(A. and N.Z.
