THE EGG MARKET.
TRADE ANOMALIES. ' If the average housewife wants a dozen eggs to-day she can get them, if she is of the usual discriminating class, for 1/5. If a baker wants one hundred dozen lie must pay 1/GA per dozen. The reason of this curious anomaly is that a cutting war exists amongst the grocers just now which is contributed to by certain producers who supply direct to these grocers and accept less money than is paid by the recognised •wholesale distributors. These latter are getting 1/6 net for their clients. The position is likely to remedy itself quito promptly if, as one egg merchant told a "Star" reporter, there is actually an egg shortage in the district.
